Abrasive Water Jets cut with a super pressurized stream of water traveling at 3 times the speed of sound. A fine abrasive material, such as garnet, is introduced into the water stream just before it exits the jet. This combination of high velocity water and fine abrasive particles erode away the material being cut leaving a smooth, extremely accurate edge.
Finished parts usually require no de-burring or secondary machining process. Unlike other cutting methods, there is no work hardening of the material being cut, nor are there any changes to the physical or chemical properties of the work material because the Water jet generates virtually no heat during the cutting process.
With a jet diameter of only .05” and dimension tolerances as small as .005” combined with the ability to accommodate materials up to 8 inches thick and up to 6 feet wide by 12 feet long, our Abrasive Water Jet is well suited for just about any job large or small.
